4 Play: tubular dining chair

4 Play is a tubular mid-century modern dining chair designed for both visual clarity and everyday comfort. With its tension sling cushions and sculptural steel frame, it brings a refined yet approachable presence to dining and entertainment spaces. The chair ships flat in a compact box and assembles easily without tools, just pop in the top crossbar, slide the seat sling over the frame, and secure with the top crossbar and remaining sling. Made from durable steel tubing and padded with automotive foam, it’s built for longevity and daily use.

This is a full scale prototype of my capstone project. Made in six weeks and shown at ICFF 2025. Below is the assembly video, followed by written instructions, that are provided when client receives the flat packed chair. Following is my capstone essay, documenting and explaining the entire process.
